This spring must be one of the most difficult and challenging to get anything germinating and growing successfully and it was all down to temperature.
Recent rainfall in most parts of the country makes it a great time to plant in the garden right now.
Most varieties are available .
Some top sellers are Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Red curly kale, Savoy , Leeks and Evesham Sprouts.
Slugs and Snails can be a pain this spring especially if it rains, if you are having trouble from them, then try Grazers Slug and Snail deterrent as it has been a very effective means to control them. It is a natural product.
Brassica production is about a month behind last year but as always things do catch up in the end.
Feeding your plants is very important to keep them growing and a liquid feed every week or fortnight is a good idea as you are feeding and watering the same time.
Miracle Grow is a good choice.
General soil fertility can be achieved by using Remin Volcanic Rock Dust, either directly on the soil surface or compost .We still have a limited quantity of half price split 10 kg bags.
If weeds are becoming a problem then why not try a new product to suppress weeds and keep in moisture called Woolch as it also frustrates slugs and snails from crossing.
